100% cotton socks

In the last few years you may have notice it is getting harder and harder to find 100% cotton socks. This was due in part to a cotton quota on china that the U.S. gov't imposed a few years ago. At the same time cotton prices have gone up making it expensive to produce 100% cotton sock. The true defenition of a 100% cotton socks is deceptive, because in reality you really can't have one hundred percent cotton socks because you always need the elastic band on top to hold up the sock. so in reality the best you can do is around 95% cotton. Before understanding what I mean we first have to learn how socks are made or knitted. A standard dress socks usually consists of 70-80% cotton with some other synthetic fibers such as nylon, rayon, silk etc.... blended in the entire socks, meaning even the cotton part of the sock is reinforced with nylon so the synthetic materials are all over throughout the sock. With respect to 100% cotton socks there is no nylon or synthtic fibers blended in the knitting process so the foot and ankle of the sock are 100% cotton with out nylon reinforcements thus giving you true 100% cotton socks but you still need the elastic band on top to hold up the socks Do not mistake 100% cotton socks for none-elastic socks which will post about in a later blog.

Who uses and why use 100% cotton socks?

1. People who are allergic to synthetic fibers
2. People who sweat alot
3. reduce foot ordor
